According to a Historical Sketch of the St Rose Congregation prepared in 1945, a two-acre tract was donated by Mr. Henry Hoeddinghaus and the first adult (Gerhard Schumacher) was buried in 1870. The Historical Sketch states 3 children had been interred before him.
A newspaper article "Area cemetery takes ‘patrons’ on first-come, first-served basis" reports the earliest monument was Joseph Bonhoff who died in 1863. The stone does list he was born April 23, 1861 and died January 31, 1863 but the Church's baptism and death records show both birth and death are off by 10 years, being 1871 and 1873, respectively.
The following inventory was transcribed from cemetery visits and church records on the FamilySearch Record Search - Pilot Site by John and Nancy Moss.
The following abbreviations are used in the listing: + = information from church death records and ? = Uncertain
