The Clinton County Historical Society (CCHS) also published a listing of this cemetery complete with a map and an index in their Quarterly Vol. 24, No. 3. The CCHS quarterly also contained a listing of death records from Clinton County Death Record Book number 1 that listed burials in this cemetery. We have made no effort to compare the CCHS listings to this listing. You may find it helpful to make your own comparisons.

According to the Damiansville portion of the 1913 Commercial History of Clinton County, Illinois:

Previous to 1861 the dead of the settlement were buried at Germantown. From 1861 to 1863 interments were made in the northwest corner of the church land bordering on the main public road of the town. In spring, 1863, this burial place was abandoned for the present site of St. Damian's cemetery, comprising two acres of land in the southwest corner of the church property. A beautiful crucifixion group adorns the center of this sacred spot.
