Also known as Clement Cemetery and Wakefield Cemetery
Burials from 1847 to 1961
One way to get to this 2 1/4 acre cemetery is to take Huey Road south out of Huey. Turn left (east) on Hammel Road. That road turns right, and then when it turns back left, keep going forward on Buck Lane for about a block.
The history of the cemetery is available from the Clinton County Historical Society Quarterly Volume 19 Number 3.
For assistance in locating the graves, we divided the cemetery into a natural N(orth) and a S(outh) Section. We started numbering the rows and graves at the left side of each section, next to the road. The grave numbers are merely sequenntial numbers of the stones that remain, they are not necessairily near each other. Section U(nknown) is for burials that might be here without a stone remaining. If anyone knows where the plat map or other info might be, or other people who might be buried here, please make a copy and Contact Us.
Volunteers do a tremendous job of maintaining the cemetery. Photos of some of the stones are available in the Gallery. Tombstones were chalked to help readability and the chalked washed off easily in the first rain.
Information was added from a few years of transcribed death records. The records said the person was buried in Clement, which possibly meant the town of Clement. Collins Station was renamed Clement in 1867. The town of Clement was renamed Huey in 1883 (see Names of Places). We put these questionable burials in this cemetery since it is the largest cemetery in the Township and the most likely place for the burials. We will keep their names in this listing until we find a stone in another cemetery, or until someone gives us information on where to put these burials.
The spelling was left as transcribed.
