The subject of the following brief biographical sketch is a native of Clinton county, Illinois. He was born in Clement township Nov. 24, 1847. His father, Smyth Moore, was a native of Georgia. He emigrated from his native state to Illinois; and settled in this county at an early date. He married Nancy L. CHARLES, who was a native of Guilford county, North Carolina. Both parents are dead. They had a family of three sons and four daughters. Risdon D. is the youngest of the family. He was reared on a farm, and attended the district schools, wherein he received a good English education, which was further improved by two terms at McKendree College, at Lebanon, in St. Clair county, Illinois. He studied law with A. H. WHITE, of Carlyle, and was admitted to the bar. He practised for a short time, then was engaged in farming, which has, to a certain extent, been his principal business for the past few years. In 1873 he published the Anti-Monopolist in Salem, Marion county, Ills., in connection with W. J. COLLIER. On the 4th of July, 1881, he, in connection with T. D. SHOUPE, purchased the Constitution and Union office of Hardin CASE, and at present is engaged in editing and conducting that journal.

On the 13th of March, 1876, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah E. FRUM, of Preble county, Ohio.
